Things To Do In the Wallowa Mountains After Your Ride:
Wallowa Valley Overlook
The Wallowa Valley Overlook offers a breathtaking view of the valley where Chief Joseph and his people spent their summers. The communities of Joseph, Enterprise, Lostine and Wallowa are visible. The walk is just under 3/4 of a mile from the terminal and takes the average person 15-20 minutes. The trip is relatively easy and the slope is moderate.
Royal Purple Overlook
The short trip out to the Royal Purple Overlook is an easy one. Royal Purple offers a spectacular view of the Wallowa Mountain range. From here you can see many high peaks in the Wallowa Mountains. The hike takes less than 5 minutes from the terminal. From Royal Purple, you have the option of returning to the terminal or ascending to the summit overlook. This 15-minute portion of the trip has a steady incline to the summit, a walk that is negotiable for most guests.
Trails at the Tramway
Enjoy a meal at our Summit Grill & Alpine Patio, then enjoy a panoramic hike with over 2 miles of trails that feature breathtaking views and amazing scenery. Enjoy the quiet and peace at the summit and see why the Wallowa Mountains were designated the “Best View in Oregon.” It’s truly a place to remember.

Enjoy a meal and beverage at one of Travel Oregon’s Original 7 Wonders, located at the Tramway upper terminal. At the 8,150-foot level of Mt. Howard, this is the “The Northwest’s Highest Restaurant!
Lunch Hours: Opens 10:00. Closes 1 hour before last tram down.

This is a must do if you are in the area. The tram takes you to the top of Mt Howard, where you will find beautiful vistas, wildlife, and wildflowers. There is even a cafe at the top that serves food and beverages with a view!
