SUMMER AT THE TRAM

With the opening of the gondola in 1970, Wallowa County added one of its most popular attractions. The 3700′ vertical ascent to the summit of Mt. Howard is a memorable experience. The exciting trip to the top of the mountain allows one to enjoy the 4000′ view as the gondola rises above Wallowa Lake Village and the blue waters of Wallowa Lake.

Your safety is always our number one operational priority at Wallowa Lake Tramway. Wallowa Lake is a proven industry leader in safety which results in an exemplary safety record for over 35 years. We are applying this attitude and dedication to our safety protocols for COVID-19.

Our team has developed a comprehensive set of new health protocols following federal and state guidelines to be enacted at Wallowa Lake Tramway for employees and guests. Below we summarize a few of the new health protocols which you can expect to see on your visit to our popular Wallowa County venue.  Although we cannot guarantee a result, we recommend highly that each employee and guest access their personal risk and make their decision accordingly.

RESTRICTION

In order to maintain a healthy environment at our venue. Guests and staff with symptoms of illness will be asked not to come to the tram.

STEPPING UP HEALTH SCREENINGS
Upon arrival, we will require all staff  to participate in thermal scanning to check temperatures.

HAND SANITIZER INCREASED, TERMINAL SANITATION PROCEDURES

Hand sanitizer will be available in areas throughout each terminal, the ticket booth and restrooms.

CABIN LOADING LIMITATION.

Maximum 4 person per cabin and all must be in same party. Recommend wearing of cloth face coverings in cabins. When available, face masks will be for sale at the ticket both.  All cabins will be disinfected at both terminals after guest embarkation.

Wallowa Lake Tramway Disabled Guest Access

The lower terminal has concrete ADA approved ramp which provides access to the lower terminal loading area of the tramway. (The ramp can be accessed at the northeast side of the terminal)
Once arriving at the terminal contact one of our lift attendants and they will assist you in loading into the four passenger gondola cabin and they will also arrange for transport of you chair to the summit
Sorry we cannot accommodate large scooters but will provide a loaner wheel chair
Once at the summit access is available to an ADA restroom and food service
The two miles in hiking trails are rustic dirt trails and very in degree of slope and for the most part are not suitable for wheel chairs

Wallowa Lake Tramway is located in the Wallowa Whitman National Forest and operates under a special use permit from the USDA and Forest Service, and is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
